My Name is KHAN

These days when the technology is on a high, communication is at its best and as usual media projects stories that capture our attention for all reasons and most importantly we love the programs where two people have a dig at each other verbally and if its physical we enjoy it the most. A news channel whose name I wouldn’t like to disclose has a speciality in showing in presenting paparazzi in the most attractive way possible capturing the attention of viewers. In fact celebrities are always in the news for such reasons. The latest being the cold war in bollywood between the khans. The three khans in bollywood who have their share of market are Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir khan. Each and everyone are good in their own way in entertaining people and endorsing brands. But now a days they are more remembered for their infamous public talk rather than their cinematic projects.

The season witnesses one movie from each khan starting with Yuvvraaj starring Salman khan , Rab ne bana di jodi with Shahrukh khan and Ghajini with Aamir khan in the lead. All the three are big budget films. But Yuvvraaj proved to be a dud at box office and Rab ne bana di had good openings. Ghajini is yet to be released. I just want to express my opinion how these three khans deal things.

Salman Khan is Destiny’s child, mostly in the news for all the wrong reasons like black buck poaching, assaulting journos, drunken driving etc; but he cares for people and underprivileged children. He takes part in special events that is good for the society. Though he is called brash, rude, etc; his humanitarian side always shines.

Shahrukh Khan , also known as the Baadshah of Bollywood because of his string of successes who leads a lifestyle nothing short of a king . He is a brand himself. His entrepreneurial skills were much appreciated when it was known that Kolkata Knight Riders was the only other team other than the winning team that made some money in the first edition of IPL.

He isn’t seen as someone who always promotes some humanitarian act but is very people friendly who doesn’t shy away showing his six pack body or obliging his female fans for a kiss in the air. Plays a perfect host at high profile weddings and each and every step he takes makes him earn money. Thats what you call brand Shah Rukh.

Aamir Khan, also known as the perfectionist is known for doing quality work . Very media shy, comes in front of the media’s eye only during the promotion of his films. Has also supported Medha Patkar in Narmada Bachao Aandolan with the team of Rang De Basanti . Also in news for his strained family relationships.

A lot has been said about the cold war between Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan, and Aamir Khan supporting Salman Khan.

Every now and then we see Aamir khan taking a dig at Shah Rukh Khan. Shah Rukh Khan doesn’t desperately seek for an opportunity to express things of concern,though he does come out to support any cause. Aamir khan makes sure that he supports the causes he believes in like Narmada Bachao Andolan etc; and in the recent Mumbai Shootout, he called for a press conference showing his concern for those who were killed in the shootout and, he told about the media that he is not willing to release the movie because he was very disturbed after seeing what happened in Mumbai. If at all his main concern was the shootout, then why did he speak about the release of the movie? I believe he was afraid of the low turn out in the theaters as a result of the Mumbai shootout. And if Narmada Bachao was his concern , then why did he have to drag the entire cast to the place where there was an agitation? and in the program when he was interviewed by Rajdeep Sardesai of CNN IBN, Aamir Khan told him that media is using his name. Medha Patkar’s agitation did not end the day Aamir and Co arrived at the scene, but even recently, when she was supported by mayawati, Aamir was seen nowhere. So, I belive he used it as a tool to promote Rang De Basanti as the film had a similar theme. But in fact it is Aamir who is using media to his advantage .We never see Aamir khan being in news for any other reason except his film’s promotion and some personal matters which were highlighted by the media. May be he is trying to gain some lost ground as his last genuine solo hit was Lagaan..
